Many numbers will fly around in the upcoming days. Numbers like 28 (Jimmie Johnson’s lead over Matt Kenseth), or 23 (the finishing position Johnson needs to guarantee a sixth championship) or 6 (titles Johnson could have come Sunday night, one short of the all-time premier series record).

But going deeper, there are plenty more numbers to talk about as the Gen-6 race car’s debut season comes to a close. For instance …

16: That’s the number of different winners this season, which eclipsed last year’s figure by one (15).

10.1 and 19.4: The average number of leaders and lead changes this year (compared to 9.4 and 18.9 at this point last year.

1.291 and 19: The average margin of victory and the number races with an MOV under one second (compared to 1.758 and 17 at this point last year).

19: The number of track qualifying records broken this season.

124,061: The number of green flag passes over the course of this season (compared to 106,528 at this point last season – a difference of 17,533).

944: Number of green flag passes for the lead this season (compared to 914 at this point last season).
