Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Ga., and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway are opening their camping areas to Hurricane Irma evacuees, free of charge, beginning Thursday.

At Atlanta, both RV and tent campgrounds and the Rinnai Shower Station camper bath house will be available for bathing and restroom use, according to an announcement on the track’s website.

Those needing shelter and hoping to stay at AMS are instructed to enter the Atlanta Motor Speedway property at entrance E off GA Hwy 19/41. Unreserved campgrounds will be on the left. Another option from I-75 and GA Hwy 20 is to follow Lower Woolsey Rd. to entrance H. After entering at H, make an immediate right onto Richard Petty Blvd and then left into entrance G. The campgrounds will be on the right. A detailed map is available on the AMS website.

On-site assistance will be available at the ticket office/gift store building. For additional information, call (770) 946-4211.

Talladega is opening it Winner’s Walk I area, that, in addition to camping spaces for both RVs/campers and tents, also includes shower facilities, restrooms and water hookup. Directional signage will be at Talladega Superspeedway main entrance.

“Our track is committed to helping our friends in Florida and the surrounding states during this time of need,” Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch said. “We hope to provide a sense of relief by offering a place to stay for no charge for evacuees during this time of adversity. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the path of the storm.”
