Brett Moffitt in for Matt Tifft in truck race at Kentucky

By AMANDA VINCENT
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team Red Horse Racing announced on Tuesday that Brett Moffitt would fill-in for the sidelined Matt Tifft behind the wheel of the No. 11 RHR Toyota for Thursday night’s Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 at Kentucky Speedway.
Tifft is recovering from successful brain surgery to remove a slow-growing low-grade glioma, or tumor, from his brain. Tifft underwent surgery late last week and is recovering at home. He is expected to make a full recovery and plans to return to racing as soon as he is cleared by doctors to do so.
“Obviously, we’re thinking of Matt and can’t wait for him to return, so we’re sending him our best wishes and we hoope to see him back at the track soon,” Moffitt said. “I hate that it’s under these circumstances, but I’m really grateful for this opportunity with Red Horse Racing, and I hope it can lead to more.”
Moffitt was last year’s Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The Sprint Cup Series is the national NASCAR series in which Moffitt has the most experience, as he has 38-career starts at that level. He also has competed in one Xfinity Series race and two races in the Truck Series. Both of his Truck Series starts came in 2013, including a race at Kentucky Speedway.  In that race, he finished 14th in a ThorSport Racing entry. He also finished 17th at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
