Caleb Holman fined, John Hunter Nemechek docked points after Iowa

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Caleb Holman was fined $5,000 and placed on probation through Dec. 31, according to the weekly penalty report from NASCAR that was released on Wednesday. Holman’s fine and probation are a result of the driver walking onto the racing surface before being instructed to do so by track personnel during the Truck Series race at Iowa Speedway in Newton on Saturday night. NASCAR implemented a rule in 2014, prohibiting drivers from walking onto a live race track before being attended to by safety personnel.
In its penalty announcement, NASCAR cited a violation of sections 12-1 and 10.4.2.1 a. “Driver exited the truck and approached the racing surface or apron before being attended to by track safety team,” the announcement read.
