Can-Am, which recently announced sponsorship of Jeffrey Earnhardt and Go FAS Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2016, also has plans to be the title sponsor of the two 150-mile Daytona 500 qualifying races at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Feb. 18, 2016.
“We’re excited about developing this new partnership with BRP (parent company of Can-AM), the world leader in recreational vehicles,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III said. “With two thrilling and unpredictable 150-mile qualifying races, the Can-Am Duel at Daytona will provide a greaat platform for BRP to promote their Can-Am products at the ‘World Center of Racing.’”
Can-Am replaces Budweiser, which replaced Gatorade, as the title sponsor of the event.
While the front row of the Daytona 500 is set based on results of a traditional qualifying session, the two duel races affect the remainder of the 43-car Daytona 500 starting grid.
