NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team owner Chip Ganassi suffered a broken clavicle as a result of a bicycle wreck in the Pittsburgh, Pa., area on Saturday. He underwent surgery on Sunday. According to a report from Dustin Long of NBC Sports, Ganassi expects to be at Richmond (Va.) International Speedway on Saturday night for the Federated Auto Parts 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
Chip Ganassi Racing fields two cars in the Sprint Cup Series, the No. 1 Chevrolet driven by Jamie McMurray and the No. 42 Chevrolet driven by Kyle Larson.
The Richmond race is the 26th and final race of NASCAR’s regular season. McMurray is virtually locked into the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship postseason, based on the points standings. All he has to do to lock in is start Saturday’s race at RIR. Larson, though, will need to win at Richmond to get into the Chase.
