Cody Ware plans Sprint Cup debut at Sonoma

By Amanda Vincent
Premium Motorsports announced on Friday that Cody Ware would be behind the wheel of the team’s No. 55 Chevrolet for the June 26┬áNASCAR Sprint Cup Series road course race at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway. If he qualifies for the race, it will be Ware’s Sprint Cup Series debut. He’ll be a teammate to Cole Whitt, driver of the No. 98 Chevrolet.”
“I’m really humbled by this opportunity to drive for Premium Motorsports at Sonoma Raceway,” Ware said. “A start in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is something I’ve always dreamed of doing, and thanks to Jay (Robinson, car owner) and everyone at Premium Motorsports, they are trying to make that happen.”
Ware’s NASCAR Xfinity Series debut also came on a road course, coming at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington in 2014. In that race he posted a career-best 15th-place finish, driving for Rick Ware Racing. In all, he has 11-career Xfinity Series starts. Ware also has three-career starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
