Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s team brings back front tire changer

By AMANDA VINCENT

Hendrick Motorsports has tweaked the lineup of its No. 88 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team of driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., heading into the Chase for the Sprint Cup that begins Sunday afternoon at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.

David Mayo returns to his position as the front tire changer on the team. He was replaced by Kevin Novak for the two most recent races — the Southern 500 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway and the Sept. 12 Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway.

Not long ago, the team also got a new rear tire changer, as Devin DelRicco replaced Joe Slingerland. The No. 88 crew is sticking with DelRicco.

Earnhardt heads into the Chase in four-way tie with Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards in the points standings. He has 2006 points, six points behind leaders Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth.
