David Spade gets things started at Daytona

Actor and comedian David Spade, star of the upcoming move “Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser” on Crackle, will be the grand marshal for the Coke Zero 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race July 5 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, according to a recent press release from the race track.

“We’re excited to welcome David Spade as grand marshal for the Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca-Cola,” DIS President Joie Chitwood said. “His starting command, which will be delivered in front of thousands of fans and millions more watching on NBC, will begin and exciting night of NASCAR racing on the high banks.”

As part of his duties as the race’s grand marshal, Spade’s primary job at Daytona will be delivering the command to fire engines. He’ll also attend the driver’s meeting and participate in other pre-race rituals.
