Canadian racer Derek White has been arrested and charged for his role in tobacco-smuggling and drug-running operations. He was charged on three counts each of conspiracy and fraud against the government and one count of profiteering as a criminal organization. White was one of approximately 60 people arrested.
According to a Bloomberg.com report, the bust was the biggest tobacco-smuggling bust in North American history Tobacco was purchased in the US and Illegally imported into Canada to be sold on the Kahnawake and Six Nations Reserves. Information obtained by police listed White as one of the top-ranking members of the operation. A list of contraband seized in raids by Canadian authorities last week include: over 52,800 kilograms of tobacco, over $1.5 million from illegal transactions, $3 million in US dollars, 836 kg of cocaine, 21 kg of methamphetamine, 100 g of Fentanyl and 35 lbs. of cannabis, according to a FOX Sports article.
