Driver Dylan Lupton has a one-race deal with BK Racing that will put him behind the wheel of the No. 93 Toyota for the team for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway. The race will be Lupton’s debut at NASCAR’s top level. He’ll have Mike Ford as crew chief.
“It’s been a long time coming, I guess,” Lupton said, according to a Motorsport.com report. “Mike Ford and I talked in the hauler at Las Vegas about what we were going to do after the Xfinity races I had. He thought it would be a good opportunity to talk to Ron Devine at BK Racing, where he had worked in the past. After Talladega, things got a little more serious. We wanted to start off at Sonoma, just because I have quite a few laps there already, and I have always run good there.”
Lupton ran two NASCAR K&N Pro Series West races at Sonoma, one of them resulting in a third-place finish.
While the deal with BK Racing is just a one-race deal, for now, Lupton said there have been discussions about additional races. Lupton continues his search for NASCAR opportunities. So far this season, he has competed in two Xfinity Series races at Phoenix International Raceway and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.
