Erik Jones scores first road course win

Erik Jones held off road course specialist Alex Tagliani after a restart with two laps to go in the 64-lap Chevrolet Silverado 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park at Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, on Sunday for his second win of the season and his first-career victory on a road course. The win also was Jones’ sixth-career win, overall, in 32 starts in the Truck Series.

“It’s nice,” Jones said. “One win was great, but it’s nice to get multiple wins in a season.”

Jones also inherited the points lead from Tyler Reddick. Reddick headed into the race as the championship points leader but wound up hitting a tire barrier to bring out the final yellow flag of the race on lap 59. Reigning Series champion Matt Crafton also surpassed Reddick in the standings to take second after finishing second in the race. Leaving Canada, Jones leads the way by three points over Crafton, while Reddick sits 15 points back in third.
