F1: Niki Lauda thinks Max Verstappen penalty ‘worst I’ve ever seen’

Niki Lauda weighed in on the penalty handed out to Max Verstappen in the United States Grand Prix, describing the decision as “the worst I’ve ever seen.”

Verstappen was penalized for leaving the track and gaining a lasting advantage by cutting the inside of Turn 17 at high speed when overtaking Kimi Raikkonen for third place. With the incident coming on the final lap, Verstappen was demoted to fourth after the race but Mercedes non-executive chairman Lauda was unhappy with the stewarding.
