Roush Fenway Racing has hired Brian Pattie to be Greg Biffle’s crew chief on the No. 16 Ford NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team. He replaces Matt Puccia. Pattie confirmed the news Wednesday during an interview on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, and a team representative also confirmed the news of Pattie’s hiring on Thursday.
Puccia will move to the Xfinity Series to serve as crew chief on the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford team of driver Darrell Wallace Jr.
The team remains mum on other possible crew chief changes. RFR also fields the No. 6 Ford for Trevor Bayne and the No. 17 Ford for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the Sprint Cup Series. Bob Osborne was Bayne’s crew chief and Nick Sandler was Stenhouse’s crew chief in 2015.
Pattie was with Michael Waltrip Racing the last four years. That team shuttered its operations at the end of the 2015 season. At MWR, Pattie spent most of his time as crew chief for Clint Bowyer on the No. 15 Toyota team before being moved to MWR’s No. 55 team of driver David Ragan during the 2015 season.
