J.J. Yeley, Jeb Burton swap BK Racing rides

By AMANDA VINCENT

BK Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers J.J. Yeley and Jeb Burton are swapping rides within the organization, according to an announcement from the race team on Tuesday. The swap will put Yeley in the No. 26 Toyota and pair him with crew chief Patrick Donahue. Meanwhile, Burton will move over to the No. 23 Toyota and inherit Joe Williams as his new crew chief. The new driver/team pairings will make their competitive debut in the Southern 500 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on Sept. 6. The swap will be in effect for the remainder of the 2015 season.

“We are trying something different to improve performance for BK Racing,” team owner Ron Devine said. “We are confident and proud of our drivers and employees, but we are looking to try some different combinations to improve our results.”

Neither Yeley nor Burton has managed a top-10 race finish this year. Sprint Cup Series rookie Burton also has failed to make seven races. Burton’s best finish, to date, is a 29th-place showing at Martinsville, Va., Speedway. Yeley does have one top-20 finish, a 14th-place finish at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

BK Racing also fields the No. 83 Toyota for series rookie Matt DiBenedetto.
