Jennifer Jo Cobb makes costly cell phone mistake

On Tuesday, NASCAR announced that Jennifer Jo Cobb, drover/owner of the No. 10 truck in the Camping World Truck Series was fined a total of $7,500 after Sunday’s Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. She was fined $5,000 for having a non-engine electronic component in her truck during a practice session on Saturday in preparation for the race. The other $2,500 was the result of a rules infraction while already on NASCAR probation.

After an on-track incident during the practice session, Cobb climbed from her truck with her cellular phone in hand. Cell phones are non-engine electronic components, and therefore, prohibited from being in racing vehicles during races in all three of NASCAR’s national series — Sprint Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck.
