Joe Gibbs Racing announces Xfinity Series crew chiefs

On Friday, Joe Gibbs Racing announced its crew chief line-up for its three NASCAR Xfinity Series entries for 2016. Chris Gabehart, Scott Graves and Chris Gayle have been charged with leading JGR’s three-car effort in the Xfinity Series in the upcoming race season.

Gayle will be crew chief on JGR’s No. 18 Toyota team that will have multiple drivers in its car throughout the season. Those drivers include two of Joe Gibbs Racing’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stars — Denny Hamlin and 2015 Sprint Cup Series champion Kyle Busch. Other drivers, to be announced later, also are expected to climb into the No. 18. The 2016 season will be Gayle’s fourth season as a crew chief with the Gibbs organization. He also worked with JGR’s Sprint Cup drivers in Xfinity Series competition last season. In the 33 races that made up the 2015 season, he led the team to seven wins, six of those coming with Busch behind the wheel.
