John Wes Townley returns at Pocono

By AMANDA VINCENT
John Wes Townley plans to return to competition for Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., according to a release from Athenian Motorsports and Zaxby’s, Townley’s primary sponsor. He’ll also compete in the ARCA Racing Series event at Pocono on Friday.
Townley has been sidelined from racing competition because of a possible concussion. He has missed two camping World Truck Series races since last racing at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., near St. Louis in June. Parker Kligerman and Brady Boswell filled-in for Townley in races at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta and Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, respectively.
“I’d like to thank Parker Kligerman, Cole Custer and Brady Boswell for filling in for me,” Townley said. “I feel great, and I’m looking forward to racing at Pocono this week.”
Custer, a regular in the Camping World Truck Series, substituted for Townley in ARCA competition.
