According to a release distributed Monday by a spokesman for NASCAR driver John Wes Townley, the driver continues to undergo treatment for a possible concussion, and as a result, Brady Boswell will drive the No. 05 Athenian Motorsports Chevrolet entry in the Aspen Delta Eldora Dirt Derby NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on Wednesday night.
According to the release, Townley will be re-evaluated by his doctor on Monday. He hopes to be medically cleared to compete in the Truck Serie race at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., on July 30.
Townley also missed the Truck Series race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta earlier this month. He last raced June 25 at Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis. In that race, he was involved in two wrecks, both with Spencer Gallagher. The two brawled after the second incident.
The Eldora race will be Boswell’s debut in the Camping World Truck Series. He has been competing in the ARCA Racing Series this year, competing in six of the 11 races, so far, in that series. His six races have resulted in a top-five and three top-10 finishes.
