Kyle Busch celebrated his return to NASCAR Xfinity Series competition in the best way possible on Saturday with his win of the Great Clips 250 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. It was his first race in the series since suffering a broken right leg and broken left foot in a crash during the Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February.
“This is only a preliminary to what we have to do for Sunday,” Busch said, looking ahead to his driving duties in Sunday’s Quicken Loans 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, also at Michigan. “This is a start. You have to start somewhere, right? Can’t say enough about this team and everyone at Monster Energy, Toyota, TRD (Toyota Racing Development) and (crew chief) Chris Gayle did an awesome job today with this race car.”
Chase Elliott finished second, Kyle Larson was third, Chris Buescher fourth, and Elliott Sadler rounded out the top-five.
