Kyle Busch wins Best Driver ESPY

Kyle Busch, the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, was awarded the ESPY for Driver of the Year during the ESPY Awards ceremony Wednesday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. For the 2016 edition of the fan-voted award, Busch beat out fellow nominees 2015 IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon, 2016 Indianapolis 500 champion Alexander Rossi, 2015 Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton and 2015 NHRA Pro Stock champion Erica Enders Stevens.
The ESPYs are fan-voted awards, with fans having the opportunity to vote once per category online at ESPYs.com
Busch missed the first 11 races of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season after sustaining a compound fracture in his right leg and a fracture in his left foot in a crash during in the season-opening NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway last February. He returned to win a total of five races and claim the series championship in his abbreviated season. Four wins in five races during a summer run soon after his return propelled him into the top-30 of the points standings and earned him a Chase for the Sprint Cup berth.
During the Chase, Busch journeyed to the round of eight and strung together three top-five finishes to advance to the final round of four at the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He then capped off the season with a win the garnered him the 2015 title.
Eighteen races into the 2016 season, Busch’s stats included three wins, 10 top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes.
