NASCAR Cup: entry list for Bristol Motor Speedway

By AMANDA VINCENT

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season continues Sunday with the running of the Food City 500 at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway. Sunday’s race will be the eighth of the 36-race regular season but the first of the year on a short track.

Thirty-nine cars are on the entry list for the Food City 500, the most entrants for a Cup Series race since the season-opening Daytona 500 that ran with a full field of 40 cars.

Jimmie Johnson is the defending winner of the Food City 500. It was his second of three wins in the first half of the 2017 season. Kyle Busch is the most recent Cup Series winner at Bristol, winning there last fall for his fifth series win at the track. That win punctuated a three-race weekend Bristol sweep for Busch, as he also won the NASCAR Camping World Truck and Xfinity series races there last fall.

Qualifying is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. ET Friday evening and will be shown live on FS1. The race is slated to take the green flag shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday and will air live on FOX.
