Furniture Row Racing has sold its charter for its No. 77 Toyota team in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, according to team owner Barney Visser. Apparently, the charter was sold while he was being interviewed on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Thursday night.

“It’s being sold right now. We think there’s going to be a lot of charters on the market,” Visser said.

Later in the intervier, Visser said. “It’s sold. It’s all contracted for right now.”

FRR expanded from one to two entries in the Cup Series, adding the No. 77 to its original No. 78 entry. Cup Series rookie Erik Jones, on loan from Joe Gibbs Racing, has driven the No. 77 this year, but will return to the JGR fold for 2018, replacing Matt Kenseth in the No. 20 there.

Meanwhile, Martin Truex Jr. will continue as driver of the No. 78 team, still chartered, next year. Truex is the 2017 Cup Series regular-season champion and heads into the playoffs, scheduled to start Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway, with a sizable lead, courtesy of 53 playoff points earned throughout the 26-race regular season.

Furniture Row Racing expected to only have the driving services of Jones for a single season. In Visser’s radio interview Thursday night, he implied that he hasn’t given up on getting sponsorship to keep the No. 77 going beyond the 2017 season. He said he believes he could purchase another charter in he’s able to secure enough sponsorship to continue fielding the No. 77 next season.
