Furniture Row Racing President Joe Garone and Joe Gibbs Racing’s J.D. Gibbs will be inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame during a ceremony at Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif., on June 21, according to an announcement from Furniture Row Racing on Monday.

“I want to thank the voting members of the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame for this humbling honor,” Garone said. “My racing roots started at Colorado National Speedway and progressed from there. I have been fortunate to be associated with a number of talented and passionate people who have a true love for motorsports. There are so many people who have guided and assisted me along the way, and I sincerely thank everyone of them. The western region has produced a number of outstanding individuals who have contributed to the growth and national awareness of the motorsports industry, and to be among that company of individuals makes this honor even more special.”

Other 2018 inductees include California racing legend Oren Prosser, two-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion Greg Pursley and NASCAR and open-wheel racing team owner Richard “Dick” Woodland.

“It is getting increasingly difficult to select the honorees because the West Coast, over 75 years, has produced so many eligible candidates, literally hundreds,” West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame Chairman Ken Clapp said. “I salute the tenacity of the voting board and the members of the nominating committee on making these difficult selections.”

Garone has been with Furniture Row Racing since team owner Barney Visser founded it in 2005. In 2017 Martin Truex Jr. drove FRR’s No. 78 Toyota entry to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship.

Garone previously was a crew chief for driver Rick Carelli in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, Southwest Tour and Camping World Truck Series. Together, Garone and Carelli won more than 100 races and won championships in the K&N Pro Series and Elite Division Southwest Tour.

Garone also worked with Bill Elliott Racing, where his positions included crew chief for NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, and PPI Motorsports before a position with NASCAR.

Furniture Row Racing has a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing owned by Gibbs’ father Joe Gibbs.

J.D. Gibbs embarked on a racing career after a college football career. After competing as a driver and crew member for Joe Gibbs Racing, he eventually became President of Joe Gibbs Racing in late 1997. He began to step away from those duties as the result of health issues in 2015.

Joe Gibbs Racing is one of the most successful teams in NASCAR’s premier series with four Cup Series championships — 2000 with Bobby Labonte as driver, 2002 and 2005 with Tony Stewart and 2015 with Kyle Busch. JGR also has multiple championships in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
