Joe Gibbs Racing has swapped pit crews between its No. 18 Toyota team of Kyle Busch and No. 19 Toyota team of Daniel Suarez in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, ahead of Sunday’s race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., the first race of the 10-race postseason playoffs.

“It was an organizational decision to make the change and something we think best positions us for the playoffs,” read a statement from Joe Gibbs Racing to Motorsport.com.

Busch is one of three JGR drivers in the playoffs, along with Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth. Cup Series rookie, Suarez, though, is on the outside looking in. Suarez is 20th in the points standings with nine top-10 finishes in the first 26 races. His lone top-five was a third-place finish at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International in August.

Busch, meanwhile, is third in the standings, heading into the playoffs. He has two wins, so far, this season, coming at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., and Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway.
