Joey Gase will become the third driver to pilot StarCom Racing’s No. 00 Chevrolet in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series when he climbs into the car April 29 for the Geico 500 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

“I’m very excited to be pulling double duty in Talladega again and can’t thank everyone at StarCom Racing enough for the opportunity to represent Sparks Energy,” Gase said. “The spring Talladega race weekend is a huge weekend for my great friends at Sparks Energy. They bring in hundreds of folks to the Sparks Energy 300 to say thank you to all of their employees, customers, families and friends.”

StarCom Racing, in its full-season of Cup Series competition, began the season with Jeffrey Earnhardt, who was expected to drive the car full-time in 2018, but Earnhardt and the race team part ways five races into the season. Landon Cassill has driven the No. 00 in the last three races and will drive the car in Saturday night’s Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond (Va.) Raceway. Cassill scored the team’s best finish of the season, so far, with a 20th-place showing in Monday’s rain-delayed Food City 500 at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway.

Gase, a regular in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, already has one Cup start this season, as he drove the No. 55 Premium Motorsports entry at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last month. In all, he has 23-career Cup Series starts, dating back to 2014, with a best career-finish, to date, of 21st at Talladega last year.
