NASCAR Cup: Justin Allgaier subs for Michael Annett at Bristol
By AMANDA VINCENT
Michael Annett, driver of the No. 46 HScott Motorsports Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been sidelined by flu-like symptoms for Saturday night’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol (Ten.) Motorsports. NASCAR Xfinity Series regular, Justin Allgaier, will drive the No. 46 as a substitute driver at Bristol. According to NASCAR rules, Allgaier will have to start in the race in the back because of the driver change, but that will only result in a loss of one position, as Annett qualified the car 39th Friday for the 40-car race.
Allgaier finished second in the Food City 300 Xfinity Series race at Bristol on Friday night as driver of the No. 7 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports.
Allgaier is a former HScott Motorsports driver at the Sprint Cup level, losing his ride with the team at the end of the 2015 season after 75 Cup starts. His career-best Sprint Cup finish just happened to come at Bristol — an eighth place showing in the spring race there last season. It’s his only top-10 Sprint Cup finish, to date.
