Kyle Weatherman plans to make his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut Sunday in the First Data 500 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, driving the No. 51 Chevrolet for Rick Ware Racing. He’s also slated to drive the car in the Nov. 12 race at Phoenix International Raceway, the second-to-last race of the season.

“I am so excited to get this unbelievable opportunity to make my first start at the NASCAR Cup level,” Weatherman said. “I am so thankful for all of the people who have helped me along the way,  and I am literally shaking. Thanks to Rick Ware for providing me the opportunity and believing and trusting I can do a good job for his team.”

The Martinsville race will be Weatherman’s second-career NASCAR national-level race, as he ran the 2015 season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, finishing 23rd after starting 21st.

Weatherman raced part-time in the ARCA Racing Series this year, running seven of the 20 races on the 2017 schedule and posting three top-fives and four top-10 finishes. In all, he has 50-career ARCA starts, resulting in one win at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville in 2015. He also has 25-career top-fives and 36 top-10s in ARCA.
