Matt DiBenedetto won’t be returning to the BK Racing team in the NASCAR premier series for 2017. He made the announcement via Twitter Thursday evening.
He also spoke of his decision to leave the team Thursday night on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
“I can only say so much at this time, but I was kind of evaluating, and I had been in talks with BK Racing, but there are no hard feelings. I appreciate everything they’ve given to me,” DiBenedetto said. “But I was evaluating the team situation for next season and what’s going, and from my end, there were too many unknowns and I needed to make a decision. I’m excited for what the future holds, and everyone will have to stay tuned.”
DiBenedetto, a former Joe Gibbs Racing Development driver, spent two seasons at BK Racing. He has 68-career starts at the Cup level, all with BK Racing, mostly behind the wheel of the No. 83 Toyota, with a handful of starts in the team’s No. 93 entry. He has one-career top-10 finish, a sixth-place showing at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway in April 2016.
