Matt DiBenedetto has been sidelined for Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway near Fort Worth as a result of a concussion sustained in Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge Xfinity Series race at the track.
“I’m feeling totally fine… just having to follow the concussion protocol. Hate I can’t drive tomorrow but I’m looking forward to Phoenix.” DiBenedetto (@mattdracing) tweeted Saturday evening.
DiBenedetto crashed on lap 135 of the 200-lap Xfinity Series race.
Jeffrey Earnhardt will drive the No. 83 BK Racing Toyota as a substitute for DiBenedetto in Sunday’s Sprint Cup race. Earnhardt drives the No. 32 Go FAS Racing Ford part-time in the Sprint Cup Series, but Joey Gase is driving that car this weekend. Earnhardt has run one race for BK Racing, driving the No. 83 last month at Talladega. DiBenedetto moved over to BKR’s No. 93 for that race.
