Austin Dillon will embark on his first NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., on Sunday as the only Chase representative of Richard Childress Racing. With all its championship eggs in a single basket, RCR seems to be consolidating its best pit road resources on Dillon’s No. 3 Chevrolet team.
Two members of Ryan Newman’s 31 Chevy team — jackman Adam Lewis and rear-tire carrier Brad Robison — have been moved to the No. 3 tream. Meanwhile, Josh Shiplett, who had been serving as the rear-tire career on the No. 3 team remains on that crew but moves to the position of front-tire carrier, the pit-crew position considered to be his most natural position.
As a result of the changes, here is the pit crew roster for Dillon’s No. 3 team, as of Sunday’s race at Chicagoland:
front-tire changer — Jason Pulver
front-tire carrier — Josh Shiplett
jackman — Adam Lewis
rear-tire changer — Brian Bottlemy
rear-tire carrier — Brad Robison
gas man — Tyler Radar
