NASCAR Cup: seven teams docked practice time at Martinsville Speedway

By AMANDA VINCENT

Seven Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers, including three remaining playoff drivers, will be docked practice time in final practice at Martinsville (Va.) International Speedway as teams prepare for Sunday’s First Data 500, the first race of the third round, or Round of Eight, of the playoffs. The penalties result from inspection issues last weekend at Kansas Speedway.

Playoff teams/drivers including the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team of Kyle Busch, the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford team of Ryan Blaney and the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team of Chase Elliott will be penalized 15 minutes in final practice, along with the No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford team of Danica Patrick, the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team of Matt Kenseth and the No. 37 JTG-Daugherty Racing Chevrolet Team of Chris Buescher.

The No. 13 Germain Racing Chevrolet team of Ty Dillon will lose 30 minutes in final practice.

The final of two practice sessions Saturday is scheduled to take the green flag at 4 p.m. ET, soon after the conclusion of the day’s Texas Roadhouse 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.
