NASCAR Cup: three teams lose pit selection at Texas Motor Speedway

By AMANDA VINCENT
Three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams — the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team of Denny Hamlin and the No. 6 and 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford teams of Trevor Bayne and Greg Biffle — lost their positions in the pit selection order for Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway as a result of multiple pre-qualifying inspection failures on Friday. NASCAR did not specify whether the multiple failures were at the laser inspection station or in template inspection.
None of the three aforementioned drivers qualified in the top-10 in Friday’s qualifying session. Hamlin, who is one of the remaining eight drivers in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, was the highest qualifier of the trio of drivers, qualifying 17th. The RFR teammates qualified 25th (Biffle) and 26th (Bayne).
