NASCAR Cup: Two cars fail post-race inspection at Darlington

By AMANDA VINCENT

The No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet of Kyle Larson and the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Ryan Newman failed post-race laser inspection at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on Sunday night after the Bojangles’ Southern 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. Both drivers finished the race in the top-10, with Larson finishing third and Newman eighth.

If penalties are assessed, they will most likely be announced on Wednesday.

Newman’s car, along with the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota of race winner Martin Truex Jr. and the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet of Kevin Harvick are being transported to NASCAR’s research and development facility in Concord, N.C., for a more thorough inspection.
