NASCAR cuts ties with Donald Trump

At least partly at the urging of Truck Series title sponsor Camping World, NASCAR is cutting ties with Donald Trump after Trump’s recent negative comments about Mexican immigrants. In 2014, NASCAR held its joint Camping World Truck Series/Nationwide (now-Xfinity) Series end-of-season awards banquet at the Trump-owned Trump National Doral Miami in Florida. The sanctioning body now is looking for a new location for the 2015 banquet.

“We looked at everything we saw coming down and what we heard from our sponsors and our partners and what we feel we should be doing, and that’s what led us to the decision today,” NASCAR spokesman David Higdon said on Friday at Daytona (Fla.) International Raceway, site of the weekend’s Xfinity Series and Sprint Cup Series races.
