NASCAR is tweeking the format of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races for 2016 by implementing a 20-minute “caution clock.” The tweeked race format was unveiled Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C., during the Charlotte Motor Speedway NASCAR Media Tour. The new clock will be in use for each race during the 2016 season, with the exception of the dirt race at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, scheduled for July 20.
“These innovations contain the elements of racing that our fans want the most,” NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer Steve O’Donnell said of changes announced on Tuesday that include a Chase format for the Camping World Truck and Xfinity series and changes to the format of Dash 4 Cash races in the Xfinity Series. “These enhancements put a premium on in-race strategy and will create an uprecedented level of excitement as teams make tactical decisions that could impact their spot in the Chase.”
