NASCAR Most Popular Driver voting open

By AMANDA VINCENT

Voting is open for the NMPA (National Motorsports Press Association) Sprint Most Popular Driver award until 11:59 p.m. ET Nov. 22. Votes may be cast at mostpopulardriver.com and via the NASCAR Mobile application. Fans may vote from among all drivers who are 2015 Sprint Cup Series championship-eligible and may vote once per e-mail address per day.

“The Most Popular Driver Award is one of the NMPA’s most significant awards, and I’m very pleased to partner with Sprint again this year,” NMPA President Brian Nelson said. “We expect the 2015 vote to be one of the biggest yet.”

Previously, the winner of the fan-voted award was revealed during the NMPA Myers Brothers Luncheon during Champion’s Week in Las Vegas. But this year, the winner will be announced during the Sprint Cup Series Awards banquet at The Wynn Las Vegas that will close out Champion’s Week. A $10,000 donation will be made to the winning driver’s charity of choice.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the 12-time reigning winner of the award. Bill Elliott won the award a record 16 times, including 10-consecutive years between 1991 and 2000.
