NASCAR reaches out to Hispanic audience with movie deal

NASCAR is teaming up with Eugenio Derbez, one of the biggest stars in Mexico, for an original, full-length comedy film.

“I’m really excited about doing a movie with NASCAR,” Derbez said. “They have built an amazing organization with an undeniable fan base. I’m humbled that they want to work with me and think we can do something very special together.”

Derbez is a former racer, himself, competing in his home country of Mexico.

In addition to acting, Derbez is also a writer, director and producer. He received the No. 1 ranking on Variety‘s Power of Latinos List last year. He made his global presence known a year earlier with the film, Instructions Not Included.

“Eugenio is one of the biggest Hispanic stars in the world, and we are extremely excited to partner with him on this project,” NASCAR Vice President of Entertainment, Marketing and Content Development Zane Stoddard said. “NASCAR’s Hispanic fan base has grown tremendously in recent years, and we believe this project is a fantastic opportunity to further engage this audience with a great story inside our sport.”

Stoddard will be the Executive Producer on the project. Derbez and Benjamin Odell, partner with Derbez in 3Pas Studios, will be producers.
