NASCAR schedule, weather forecast for Charlotte Motor Speedway (All-Star weekend)

While the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes the weekend off, the Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck series take to their own backyards with racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway. For the Sprint Cup Series, its All-Star weekend, with the first of two May race weekends at CMS culminating in Saturday night’s running of the Sprint All-Star Race.

But not everybody’s in the All-Star Race. Those not already qualified to race with the biggest stars of the sport have a last-ditch effort to get in through Friday night’s Sprint Showdown. That 50 lapper will be followed by the Truck Series race, weather permitting.

Rain put a damper on Thursday’s Truck Series practice schedule, but the truckers did get on track late in the day for a single practice session. Here’s a rundown of the on-track schedule of activities for the remainder of the weekend, courtesy of (all times ET):

The weather forecast for the remainder of NASCAR Sprint All-Star weekend doesn’t look all that incredibly promising as far as getting races, practices and qualifying sessions in on schedule.

On Friday, rain is expected during the 2 p.m. hour and again during the 5 p.m. hour. Early evening hours are expected to be mostly cloudy before rain returns for the 9 and 10 p.m. hours. A precipitation break is expected for the 11 p.m. hour before showers return after midnight and remain until the 5 a.m. hour Saturday.

After a predicted early-morning dry spell on Saturday, rain is forecasted to return briefly during the 9 a.m. hour before clearing out and leaving cloudy or partly cloudy conditions throughout the most of the remainder of the day and evening. The only exception is another shower predicted in the Saturday 7 p.m. hour.
