NASCAR schedule, weather outlook for Bristol

While the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series takes another weekend off, the Sprint Cup and Xfinity series head to Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway, with the Xfinity Series running the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 on Saturday and the Sprint Cup Series closing out the Bristol race weekend with the Food City 500 on Sunday afternoon. For the Xfinity Series, Saturday’s race will be the first Dash 4 Cash race of the season, making it the first race under the new Dash 4 Cash heat format.

Here’s a look at the full weekend schedule of on-track activity (courtesy of NASCAR.com):

FRIDAY

11 a.m.-12:25 p.m. — Sprint Cup practice (FOX Sports 1)
12:30-1:55 p.m. — Xfinity Series practice (FOX Sports 1)
3-3:55 p.m. — Xfinity Series final practice (FOX Sports 1)
4:15 p.m. — Sprint Cup qualifying (FOX Sports 1)

SATURDAY

8:30-9:25 a.m. — Sprint Cup practice (FOX Sports 1)
9:30 a.m. — Xfinity Series qualifying (FOX Sports 1)
11-11:55 a.m. — Sprint Cup final practice (FOX Sports 1)
12:30 p.m. — Xfinity Series Heat 1 (FOX Sports 1)
1:10 p.m. — Xfinity Series Heat 2 (FOX Sports 1)
1:45 p.m. — Xfinity Series Main (FOX Sports 1)

SUNDAY

1 p.m. — Sprint Cup race (FOX)

The weekend weather forecast for the Bristol, Ten., area calls for plenty of sunshine. Friday’s forecast shows absolutely no precipitation with a high of 70 degrees. No rain is predicted for Saturday or Sunday, either, with highs for those days also in the 70s. Saturday’s high is expected to be around 71 degrees, with Sunday’s temperature reaching 77 degrees.
