NASCAR schedule, weather outlook for Martinsville Speedway

The NASCAR Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck series head to the short track of Martinsville (Va.) Speedway for a NASCAR doubleheader weekend, with the Truck Series running the Texas Roadhouse 200 on Saturday and the Sprint Cup Series closing out the Martinsville weekend with the Goody’s Fast Relief 500. Martinsville starts a new chase round for each series, with the Sprint Cup Series kicking off its round of eight. Meanwhile, for the Truck Series, Saturday’s race at Martinsville Speedway is the first race of its round of six. The Xfinity Series takes its second of two-consecutive weekends off.

FRIDAY

11 a.m.-12:25 p.m. — Sprint Cup Series practice (NBCSN)

12:30-1:25 p.m. — Truck Series practice (FS1)

2:30-3:50 p.m. — Truck Series final practice (FS1)

4:40 p.m. — Sprint Cup qualifying (NBCSN)

 

SATURDAY

9-9:55 a.m. — Sprint Cup practice (CNBC)

10:15 a.m. — Truck Series qualifying (FS1)

Noon-12:50 p.m. — Sprint Cup final practice (NBCSN)

1:30 p.m. — Truck Series race (FS1)

 

SUNDAY

1 p.m. — Sprint Cup race (NBCSN)

The Martinsville, Va., weekend forecast looks ideal for racing, with the nearly slightest possible changes of rain, in addition to mild temperatures. The weekend forecast includes on one percent chances of rain on Friday and Saturday, with the chance of precipitation rising to only six percent on Sunday. Meanwhile a high temperature of 72 under mostly sunny skies is expected for Friday, while Saturday and Sunday’s forecasts call for mostly cloudy and/or partly sunny conditions with high temperatures in the low 80s.
