NASCAR schedule, weather outlook for Talladega Superspeedway

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Camping World Truck Series go superspeedway racing this weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, with the Truck Series running the Fred’s 250 on Saturday and the Sprinnt Cup Series closing out the race weekend Sunday with the Hellmann’s 500. The Talladega races are elimination races for both series’ chases. In the Sprint Cup Series, the chase field will be whittled from 12 to eight drivers, while in the Truck Series, the chase field will be cut by two, from eight to six drivers.
Meanwhile, the Xfinity Series takes the first of two-consecutive weekends off.

Friday
1-1:55 p.m. – Truck Series practice (FS1)
2-2:55 p.m. – Sprint Cup practice (NBCSN)
3-3:55 p.m. – Truck Series final practice (FS1)
4:30-5:25 p.m. – Sprint Cup final practice (NBCSN)
Saturday
10:30 a.m. – Truck Series qualifying (FS1)
1 p.m. – Truck Series race (FOX)
4 p.m. – Sprint Cup qualifying (NBCSN)
Sunday
2 p.m. – Sprint Cup race (NBCSN)

The weather forecast for Talladega, Ala., looks favorable for the Talladega Superspeedway race weekend. The only chances of rain throughout the span of scheduled on-track activity is a four percent chance on Friday, practice day for both the Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck series, and a scant one percent chance on Sunday, Sprint Cup race day.
Temperatures also are expected to be pleasant, with daytime temps ranging from the high-60s to low-70s Friday and Saturday before a daytime high in the high-70s on Sunday.
