NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race format and eligibility

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in the midst of its All-Star Race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Competitive activity will be spread over two nights and two races — Friday night’s Sprint Showdown and Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star Racing.

Drivers who are already eligible with spots locked into the All-Star Race won’t compete until the main event on Saturday night, but their are three All-Star Race starting spots up for grabs. Drivers not already locked into the All-Star Race field will battle it out for those spots Friday night in the Showdown.
