NASCAR Sprint Cup: Team Chevy – Drivers’ Pre-Race Notes at Daytona

TEAM CHEVY IN NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES (NSCS) COMPETITION:

  • Chevrolet has won 36 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Manufacturers’ Championships.
  • Team Chevy drivers have scored 702 wins and 635 poles in NSCS competition
    • Danica Patrick captured the 635th pole for the Gold Bowtie and became the first woman in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition to win a pole
    • In 2012, Chevrolet captured all three Manufacturers’ championship in all of NASCAR’s elite series  This feat has been accomplished four times in NASCAR history, each time by Chevrolet

 

CHEVROLET ON THE TRACK—DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY:

  • Chevrolet drivers have won 21 of 54 Daytona 500 races.  Wins by active drivers are:

o   Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet has three (3) Daytona 500 victories (’97, ’99 & ’05)

o   Dale Earnhardt, Jr., No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet has one (1) Harley J. Earl trophy for the Daytona 500 (’04)

o   Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS has one (1) Daytona 500 win (’06)

o   Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet SS, has one (1) Daytona 500 victory (’07)

o   Jamie McMurray, No. 1 McDonald’s Chevrolet SS, has gone to Victory Lane at the Daytona 500 one (1) time (’10)

o   Ryan Newman, No. 39 Quicken Loans Chevrolet SS has one (1) Daytona 500 victory (’08)

  • A Chevrolet driver has won six (6) of the last 10 Daytona 500 races
  • A Chevrolet driver has sat on the Daytona 500 pole 20 times
  • Team Chevy drivers have won 41 of the 131 previous NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) races at Daytona International Speedway (DIS)
  • Team Chevy drivers have scored 180 top-five and 355 top-10 finishes in 131 races (points paying) at DIS
  • A Chevrolet has led 6,901 laps (34.9% of possible 19,765) at DIS
