Austin Theriault is slated to drive the No. 02 Chevrolet for Young’s Motorsports in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. It’ll be Theriault’s second Truck Series race of the year, with the first coming back in February when he drove an entry for Brad Keselowski Racing in the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
“The trucks are a lot of fun, especially at Martinsville,” Theriault said. “Short-track racing is where the Truck Series got their start. Saturday’s race should be filled with some excitement and surprises, and I hope we can get our No. 02 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet up in the mix.”
The Martinsville race will be Theriault’s 11th-career start. Aside from his start earlier this season at Daytona, his other starts, to this point, came in 2015. All 10 of his career-starts, so far, have come from behind the wheel of a Brad Keselowski Racing Ford. He has two-career top-fives and four-career top-10s in those 10 starts.
“I’m excited for this opportunity to get back in a truck and drive for Young’s Motorsports this weekend,” Theriault said. “I’ve never been to Martinsville, but I’ve seen a lot of races from there. I know that Tyler (Young, truck owner and part-time driver) and his team are confident that we have a good run on Saturday afternoon.”
Since his lone 2016 Truck Series start at Daytona, Theriault has been racing, primarily, in the K&N Pro Series East. in 11 starts in that series this season, Theriault’s stats include six top-fives and seven top-10 finishes. He also made one Xfinity Series start this season at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, driving for Obaika Racing.
