The first-ever chase for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is set to take the green flag Sept. 24 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. Eight drivers are in that seven-race chase, with the 2016 champion to be determined in the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November.
By virtue of his series-leading five wins, William Byron heads into the chase with the points lead. His tally of 2015 points include a base 2000 points, plus three points for each of his regular-season wins.
Points tallies for the other seven chasers were determined the same way — a base 200, plus three bonus points for each regular-season win. Six drivers got into the chase by virtue of race wins, while Daniel Hemric and Timothy Peters filled out the eight-driver field because of their position in the regular-season-ending points standings.
Here is a look at the points standings, heading into the first chase race in Loudon:
1. William Byron (2015 points)
2. Matt Crafton (2006 points)
2. John Hunter Nemechek (2006 points)
4. Christopher Bell (2003 points)
4. Johnny Sauter (2003 points)
4. Ben Kennedy (2003 points)
7. Daniel Hemric (2000 points)
7. Timothy Peters (2000 points)
