NASCAR, like several corporate entities of late, has cut its ties from polarizing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, announcing recently that the racing sanctioning body wouldn’t be holding its Xfinity and Camping World Truck series joint season-end banquet at a Trump-owned facility in Miami that hosted the event last year. The move by NASCAR away from Trump came after communication from Camping World President Marcus Lemonis.
Individual competitors in NASCAR, though, are free to throw their political allegiances in whichever direction they want. For Camping World Truck Series driver Korbin Forrister, that would be in support of Trump. He made that preference known with the paint scheme on the No. 08 truck he owns and drove Wednesday night in the Truck Series’ one yearly dirt-track race, the 1-800-CAR-CASH Mud Summer Classic at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
“I’m not trying to hurt anybody’s feelings or show any disrespect,” Forrister told ESPN. “I’m just trying to show who I support.”
