By AMANDA VINCENT
Spencer Boyd will be behind the wheel of the No. 50 MAKE Motorsports Chevrolet for Friday night’s Ford EcoBoost 200 Truck Series season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway as teammate to MAKE’s regular driver, Travis Kvapil.
“I remember Spencer from when he ran Legends cars,” MAKE Motorsports co-owner Mark Beaver said. “He made an impression on me then, as well here in his debut season in NASCAR. Working with him for this race has given me the opportunity to see what a down-to-earth person he is and how he fits well with our race team’s culture. We look forward to a solid race with him to round-out an equally solid year for our race team.”
Boyd made debuts in moth the Camping World Truck and Xfinity Series in 2016. So far, he has made two starts in the Truck Series, running for owner Mike Mittler at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and for Jay Robinson at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., near St. Louis. The Gateway effort resulted in a top-finish, at Boyd took 19th.
He also has two Xfinity Series starts to his credit, driving a Rick Ware Raceing entry to a 29th-place finish at Iowa Speedway in Newton. He drove for Obaika Racing later at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.
