NASCAR warns three Sprint Cup teams after Vegas

By AMANDA VINCENT

NASCAR handed out warnings to three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams after the Las Vegas Motor Speedway race weekend that culminated in the March 6 running of the Kobalt 400.

The No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team of Carl Edwards and the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota team of Martin Truex Jr. received written warnings because they failed template inspection twice during the pre-qualifying inspection process on March 4.

Meanwhile, the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet team of Ryan Newman received a written warning after failing twice in the laser inspection station during the pre-race inspection process on March 6.

NASCAR also mentioned the indefinite suspension of crew member Christopher Jamieson in its penalty announcement from earlier in the week. Jamieson was suspended for a violation of NASCAR’s substance abuse policy. It is unknown for which race team or in which NASCAR series Jamieson worked.
