Bobby Dale Earnhardt expects to make his second-career NASCAR Xfinity Series start Saturday at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City as driver of the No. 40 MBM Motorsports Chevrolet in the Kansas Lottery 300.

Earnhardt’s series debut also came from behind the wheel of the No. 40 at Richmond (Va.) Racing last month. He finished 34th. The driver recently was cleared by NASCAR to compete on mile-and-a-half tracks.

“It was such an awesome day when I got the call from Brett Bodine (who has a role in approving drivers),” Earnhardt said. “It was an amazing call — a pretty great feeling.”

Earnhardt will run double-duty at Kansas, also driving the No. 3 Hixson Motorsports entry Friday night in the ARCA Racing Series event there.

Earnhardt has three-career starts in the ARCA Racing Series — two with Hixson Motorsports and one with Brian Kaltreider Racing — all coming this year. He was a regular in the ARCA Truck Series between 2013 and 2016 and was that series’ rookie of the year in 2013.
